Dialysis After Katrina

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/08/31/scene.blog/index.html

This chills me to the core:

People are carrying their children, trying to get them to safety. A woman coming down to the police, close to hysterics, saying, "My elderly mother is in a building over there, she needs dialysis. She can't get it. She is dying. Can you help me?"

And the police had to say, "There is absolutely nothing we can do. We don't have a precinct house. We don't have communication. There is absolutely nothing we can do for you.

If any dialysis patient who lost their home in Katrina needs a place to stay, I'm in Tampa, FL. Its kinda far, but I have plenty of room. Please email me.

Aftermath of Katrina

Has anyone heard what is happening with dialysis patients in New Orleans? I can't imagine...

OK, so where's the film?

I've had the final draft copy of the DaVita documentary/film about my life as a (normal) dialysis patient since the end of June. But I'm still waiting on the final cut. OK, so can you blame me because I'm anxious to see how it turned out!? And I'm wondering how other patients respond to it, too - Hopefully it'll be sent to all the DaVita dialysis units around the country. Yay! So far what I've seen of the film really makes the point that "yes, you can live your life and have kidney failure, its not the end of the world".

Updated MyKidney.com

Updated the MyKidney.com site - Fixed the guestbook (hopefully the trolls won't follow); removed the "site designed by" ad that I'd agreed to have up for 3 months (the site ended up being mostly designed by me but I did get a good deal on the set-up of the new journal so I feel I've upholded my end of the deal by hosting the ad for twice as long as agreed); fixed a couple of links; added the RSS feed info.
